Being arrested for drinking and driving is a serious matter. You may be worried about the long-term effects of your drunk driving charge, but it is important to remember that you can fight back. I can help you fight your Maryland DUI or DWI charges.
- DUI: If your blood alcohol level is .08 or higher, you will be charged with a DUI, or driving under the influence. It is the most serious drunk driving charge.
- DWI: The second most serious drunk driving charge, DWI, or driving while impaired, is given to drivers who drove while their coordination was impaired. This can be proven with a BAC test of .07.
There is no defined charge for drunk driving with a blood alcohol content of .06 or lower, but you can even be charged with a BAC of .05 or lower, if your driving was affected by the consumption of alcohol.
One of the most important things I do is to get my clients into counseling. Even if you are not guilty, counseling can help build a defense in these cases and open up a wide range of possible alternative sentencing techniques. If you can show the court that you are taking steps to avoid future incidents, you can often avoid probation and improve your situation.
Drunk Driving Administrative Hearings
If you are charged with a DUI or DWI in Maryland, you will face a license suspension or license revocation. I can protect your rights at administrative hearings and help you retain your driving privileges. If you had a BAC over .15, you could lose your license for three months. They can also put an interlock device on your car. However, you can get your restriction modified so the interlock device is applied to a personal vehicle and not a work vehicle, if you drive for a living.
